Ramsgate 2-0 Faversham Town
Ramsgate stepped up their pre season campaign as we took on Faversham Town at the WW Martin Community Stadium.
Manager Ben Smith was forced into a last minute change as Joe Ellul missed out due to a minor injury and youngster Louie Procopi came into the starting line up.
Faversham named former Rams skipper Jake Mcintyre in their team and he received a warm welcome.
The game got under way with the home side on the front foot as firstly Alfie Paxman and the Jordan Green tested Bailey Vose in the Faversham goal.
Rams were on top and Faversham were keen to disrupt the momentum by using their physicality to slow the home sides passing football down.
Heading towards half time and Lee Martin received the ball outside of the area and took aim, the ball hit a Faversham defender and deflected past Vose to give Ramsgate a half time lead.
Into the second half and it was Ramsgate who continued to press but without any clear cut opportunities .
Faversham were keen on a direct approach trying to hit strikers Lockyer and Mfula but Ramsgate were aware to the tactic and the midfield got back well to pick up the loose balls.
Procopi was having a positive game and on the hour mark brought the ball out of defence, exchanged passes with Jadama but was taken out on the edge of the area leading to a Rams free kick.
After this the game lost any momentum but with time running out 16 year old Tristian Holden got to the by line and pulled back a perfect cross for the returning Rowan Liburd to make it 2-0 and make victory certain.
In the end a good workout for Ramsgate and a comfortable victory.
