Rams swat Wasps in convincing win

East Grinstead 1-3 Ramsgate

The Rams arrived at East Grinstead having lost their last league game and in determined mood to put things right and remain at the top of the table.

The game started a bright pace with Miller running at the East Grinstead defence but the danger was then snuffed out.

On 9 minutes the Rams gave the ball away cheaply in midfield, the ball was played over the top between Emptage and Fitchett for the Wasps winger to run onto at the byline. A pinpoint cutback was met by Anderson who made no mistake from 6 yards to put the hosts 1-0 up.

The response from the visitors was immediate though as Emptage whipped in a cross from the right that a prime David Beckham would be proud of and it was well headed home by Miller at the far post.

At this stage the game was like a basketball game heading from one end to the other. Firstly Bexon was forced into a good low save to his left and then Paxman, Jadama and Prescott all went close for the Rams.

On 40 minutes Jadama found space in midfield and played a neat ball to Emptage and yet again he delivered a perfect cross for Diakiesse to power home an unstoppable header to ensure the Rams went into the break 2-1 up.

Straight from the restart and it was Rams on the attack again, Jadama found Osinfolarin who beat his man, cut inside and bent a shot agonisingly wide of the post.

At this stage Rams were playing some excellent football, dominating possession and looking dangerous on the attack and soon Miller found himself clean through after a good pass from Diakiesse but the keeper came out well and made an excellent save.

The away sides pressure did finally tell as a great team move saw Mcintrye sweep the ball out to Jadama, he in turn put Miller in on goal and this time Ashley made no mistake placing the ball into the bottom right hand corner to grab his second goal of the game.

On 66 minutes the impressive Emptage was subbed for Redwood as the Rams tried to  secure the lead.

The action wasn’t finished there though as Miller rushed through on goal and lobbed the keeper, with the fans already celebrating an East Grinstead defender came out of nowhere and miraculously cleared the ball off the line.

On 86 minutes Prescott played the ball to Miller who from close range shot but it was another good save by the keeper as the game ended 3-1 to Ramsgate.

The win ensured we stay top of the table with a 3 point advantage over 2nd placed VCD Athletic.
