Ramsgate return home to face VCD buoyed after last weeks dramatic come back against Sheppey. The Rams took the lead through Taofiq Olomowewe before Sheppey hit back with a Danny Leonard brace and a Jake Embery header, Lee Prescott was also sent off for the visitors to leave us 1-3 down going into the break. Jahmal Howlett-Mundle got one back before Rowan Liburd scored his first goal for the club to claim a deserved draw.
VCD arrive at Southwood on the back of nine games without a win and having seen manager Grant Basey quit as manager earlier this week. They currently lie 14th in the table registering eight wins and 13 defeats from their 28 games so far this season.
The teams last met on the 1st October last year in a 2-2 draw at Oakwood. Jack Paxman gave Ramsgate the lead in the 43rd minute before goals from Anthony Adesite and Youssef Bamba put VCD ahead. The Rams managed to salvage a draw thanks to an 86th minute Ashley Miller penalty.
On VCD manager Jamie Coyle said ” VCD will be tough opponents, I know they haven’t been in the best form but they have some dangerous players will be out to cause us problems. It was a hard game at their place and I’m expecting the same again tomorrow.”
Coyle was also able to announce the signing of defensive midfielder Blaise Riley-Snow from Aveley and on the new man he said ” Blaise will bring a physical presence to the midfield and he has experience of big games and of playing at a higher level so we thought he would be a good addition for the run in”
Blaise will go straight into the squad for tomorrows game.
In other team news Ben Fitchett and Coyle himself remain out while Tom Carlse made his debut from the bench last Saturday and will be pushing for a start.
