Hythe Town 0-1 Ramsgate
Ramsgate started the game top of the league and knew just a point would be enough to keep them there ahead of this visit to Hythe Town who were unbeaten at home this season.
Rams were first out the traps as a ball over the top found leading scorer Miller who raced onto the ball, he got a shot away but it didn’t have any real power on it and the keeper gathered.
Miller was put through again shortly after and was tugged down while seemingly clean through on goal. Ramsgate were adamant the defender should be sent off but the referee had other ideas and just a yellow was produced.
The bumpy pitch was causing both teams problems as it was virtually impossible to get a passing move together but on 20 minutes Ramsgate did just that. Great play from Paxman as he drove through midfield and released Miller down the left, he found Wood who with an exquisite touch brought the ball down in between two defenders and attempted to lob the onrushing keeper, Phillips however was there to claim the ball and deny The Rams.
into the 22nd minute and Hythe had their first attempt at goal as a corner was played into the box and found an attacker who blasted the ball straight into the arms of Bexon.
The breakthrough for the visitors came in the 40th minute. The impressive Paxman won the ball in midfield and sprinted towards goal where he struck a hard shot low to the keepers right and the ball found it’s way into the corner of the net to give the Rams a 1-0 half time lead.
The second half started as the first ended with Ramsgate on the attack and Aboagye and Rowland combined to set up Miller, his first time shot was hit well but Phillips was equal to it.
Hythe had the better of possession and territory for a period now but were limited to a couple of long shots with Bexon largely untroubled and Coyle marshalling the Ramsgate defence well.
The home side tried to create more threat with a treble sub 80 minutes but The Rams saw the game out comfortably to claim another valuable three points and end Hythe’s unbeaten home record.
