New signing defender Jahmal Howlett-Mundle believes the club has to be aiming to win the league this season as he looks to add to the four trophies he won last season at Sheppey United.
The centre-back signed for Ramsgate on Saturday but was unable to feature in the win against Cray Valley and Sittingbourne as The Rams had to wait for clearance on his transfer.
The 25-year-old played 38 games for Hastings United in the 2018-19 season and followed that up with an unprecedented quadruple last season and looks to continue his winning ways at Southwood in a team aiming for a top five finish
“Obviously missing out on the play-offs must have been devastating for everyone at the club last season but this year the aim really is to get promoted and the aim has to be to win the league. “ He said.
Howlett-Mundle was in the stands for the first two games and has been very impressed with what he has seen on and off to the pitch:
“The club is magnificent from the owner to the volunteers. The players and non-playing staff have been absolutely superb. They’ve been extremely welcoming.
“It’s great that they have started the season well and Saturday’s performance was mind blowing. In the heat it wasn’t the easiest but the lads went out and did an absolutely amazing job and got the 3-0 win.
“Yesterday’s performance was phenomenal. To go to a difficult place with some really good direct attackers and come away with a clean sheet showed we are a very resolute and resilient side.
“I’m looking forward to playing at step 4 again. The last time I played at this level I was at Hastings United before joining I went down to Sheppey United where we won four trophies last season. So I really cannot wait to start playing football again.”
Also joining The Rams is Lucas Atkins, on a dual-registration from National South Welling United. The midfielder made his debut at Sittingbourne on Tuesday with a strong display in the absence of Jack Paxman, who is currently unavailable for the next couple of matches.
Both will be in Steve Lovell’s squad as The Rams travel to Tunbridge Wells on Saturday when they play Rushtall FC in The Emirates FA Cup.
