On Saturday we will celebrate the life of Bob Wickens who passed this week. He and his family are real Thanet football people with Bob managing us from the end of 1989 until October ’91.
His sons Gary and Brian both played for the club and Brian continues to coach our Kent league teams whilst his grandsons William and Hugo now play for the Rams.
In the summer of 1988 Bob became manager of Ramsgate’s Under-18 side. Before becoming first team manager in 1989 where he promoted many of these youngsters into the first team who went on to exceed many fans expectations.
