Cray Valley PM 2-0 Ramsgate
Ramsgate travelled to South East London to face the divisions form team in Cray Valley but in good confidence following the previous Mondays 2-0 home victory over second placed Chatham.
Steve Lovell was forced into one change as Jack Paxman was ruled out through illness and Lee Prescott was the man to replace him in midfield while Josh Ajayi returned to the squad following suspension and sickness.
Torrential rain and a very skiddy pitch greeted the players at The Artic stadium as Ramsgate attacked downhill in the first half and it was Ramsgate who had the first meaningful effort at goal as Jake Mcintyre fizzed one from 25 yards that Chris Lewington in the Cray goal did well to palm away from danger.
25 minutes in and Bexon was called into action at the other end as a fierce shot from Gayle see the Rams stopper leap to his left to tip the ball over.
Cray were causing Ramsgate all sorts of problems down the flanks as Gayle time and time again got down the Rams left putting in several decent balls but to no avail.
Towards half time and Prescott won the ball cleanly in midfield and looked to set Ramsgate on the break but not only did the referee give Cray a free kick he inexplicably booked the Rams man causing bemusement amongst the crowd.
Into the second half and Bexon had to be at his best again as a piledriver was hit from distance and had Josh at full stretch to keep the scores level.
Cray did get the breakthrough on 52 minutes though as a deep corner from Bennett was headed home at the far post by Tumkaya.
Seven Minutes later and the advantage was doubled as a ball into the box was headed to the edge of the area and Barnet Williams met it with a sweet strike into the corner giving Bexon no chance and making it 2-0 to the home side.
Ramsgate made three changes and tried to change system in an effort to get back into the game but the Millers saw out the game comfortably to make it eleven games unbeaten.
A deserved victory for Cray as Ramsgate fall to our first defeat in six games.
